Course Levels
The following course numbering system is used:
- 100-199 are freshman-level courses
- 200-299 are sophomore-level courses
- 300-399 are junior-level courses
- 400-499 are senior-level courses
- 500-899 are graduate level courses
Registration into the course levels is dependent on the following:
- Undergraduate students must have earned at least 45 credits before enrolling in 300+- level courses.
- Juniors and seniors having a 3.000 cumulative grade point average may enroll in 500-level graduate courses for undergraduate credit with approval of their dean. See Academic Records Forms page for form.
- Only seniors, with their dean’s permission, are permitted to register for graduate credit in 500 and 600-level graduate courses. See Academic Records Forms page for form.
- Post-baccalaureate students may take 500-level courses for undergraduate credit.
- Post-baccalaureate students may take, with the permission of the dean of their college, 500 or 600 level courses for graduate credit. See Academic Records Forms page for form.
- 600-899 level courses may not be taken for undergraduate credit.
- Only students enrolled in 4+ programs may count up to six graduate credits toward their undergraduate degree.
- 700+ level courses are reserved for graduate students only.
