Earning 2 Degrees or 2 Majors (Undergraduate)
TWO DEGREES
Undergraduate students seeking to complete a second baccalaureate degree will be required to complete at least 150 credits and the academic requirements of both degrees to earn two baccalaureate degrees at the same commencement ceremony. Students need only complete general education requirements for the first degree. Students may earn two different degrees (ex. B.A. and B.S.) or students may earn two of the same degree (ex. B.S. and B.S.).
TWO MAJORS
Undergraduate students may still earn two majors and one degree. To earn two majors, students must complete at least 120 credits and all the academic requirements of both majors.
Students who declare two majors will have the option to choose which of the major programs will be listed as the first major and which will be the second major. The appropriate declaration of major forms will be completed and signed by the major program departments regardless of the order of the majors. Students should check with their advisor(s) prior to deciding the order of the two majors as this may impact Liberal Studies/Rock Studies requirements. It is the responsibility of the respective departments to assign the student a first major advisor and a second major advisor. (6/30/2020)
MODERN LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
Students wishing to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree, whether it is associated with their first or second major, must complete the university’s modern language proficiency requirement at or above the 103 level.
Exceptions to this policy must be approved by the student’s chairperson and dean of the second degree.
