Slippery Rock University

The United States in Global Context

This thread examines the United States as a nation within a global context. Courses will expose students to the global influences on American arts, culture, and sciences, and offer a deeper understanding and appreciation of American civics, citizenship, and international heritage. Courses will examine major political and economic forces that shape America’s relationships with its allies and adversaries and allow students to explore the challenges and opportunities of a globalized world.

1. Students will be able to analyze how the United States is positioned to meet the challenges and opportunities of a globalized world. (UG02)  

2. Students will engage in integrative learning across the curriculum and co-curriculum, making simple connections among ideas and experiences to synthesizing and transferring learning to new, complex situations within and beyond the campus. (UG05)
