Sustainability, Certificate
This interdisciplinary certificate should benefit a diverse population of students who might not be introduced to such concepts through completion of their degree program. Students who obtain a Certificate in Sustainability will be better prepared to critically evaluate society’s interactions with the environment and to help find ethical and equitable solutions to environmental challenges.
Students will complete one course from at least two of the three categories, and complete the capstone course, Principles of Sustainability. Only two of the four courses can be from the same academic discipline. Students must also complete 12 hours of stewardship, which may include service learning, community volunteer hours, research, or a sustainability project. The capstone course includes the stewardship requirement.
