Slippery Rock University

Chemistry/Pre-Pharmacy (Duquesne) (2+4) - Rock Studies

Pre-Acceptance Requirements

To be considered for the pre-acceptance program at Slippery Rock University, students must:

  • Have a minimum high school QPA of 3.0.
  • Score a minimum of 1130 on their SAT or 23 on their ACT.
  • Demonstrate evidence of leadership potential, community service, and involvement in co-curricular activities.
  • Provide one letter of recommendation from either a high school teacher or guidance counselor.

To maintain satisfactory progress in the Duquesne pre-pharmacy program, students must:

  • Complete the curricular requirements described in their SRU curriculum guide.
  • Earn a letter grade of “C” or better in all courses.
  • Maintain a minimum QPA of 2.50.

For the 2+4 program: Students should prepare to take the PCAT but October of their sophomore year at Slippery Rock University.

For the 3+4 program: Students should prepare to take the PCAT but October of their junior year at Slippery Rock University.

Before January 15th of their sophomore year (for the 2+4 option) and their junior year (for the 3+4 option), prospective students must apply to Duquesne University. In addition to the grade and QPA requirements listed above, formal acceptance in the PharmD program requires that students:

  • Attain a PCAT score of 375 or better.
  • Participate in an interview process with the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy faculty.
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from the SRU Pre-Pharmacy Selection Committee.
  • Provide evidence of leadership potential and commitment to the pharmacy profession.

Preference will be granted to candidates who:

  • Attain a PCAT score of 400 or better.
  • Maintain a QPA of 3.00 or higher for all science and math courses.
  • Maintain a cumulative QPA of 3.00 or higher.
