Food, Wellness, & Environment Across Cultures
Food, Wellness, & Environment Across Cultures Thematic Thread
Are we really what we eat? Is health universal? Is everyone connected to the environment in the same way around the world? Do you find topics related to food, health and sustainability intriguing? Then, Food, Wellness and the Environment Across Cultures is the thread for you! This Thematic Thread offers a fun and exciting learning opportunity where students with different perspectives can come together to apply their learning through the lens of food, health and sustainability. Students will enhance their cultural awareness and experiences in the areas pertaining to overall wellness through hands-on learning and other high-impact activities. Courses will involve working with the community, optional trips abroad, cooking and eating international food, and bringing the world into the classroom using technology. Students will select courses from several academic fields such as: Modern Languages, Geography, Parks and Conservation, Art, Dance…etc. to create an interdisciplinary experience that will have a lasting impact to students’ personal and professional lives. All students must select at least 3 language credits in the Survey Courses Block or the Global learning and Diversity category in order to accomplish the cross-cultural component that is the central theme of this Thread.
